V.O.C’s IN THE HOME AND YOUR HEALTH:
A highly toxic chemical found most notably in nail polish, nail polish remover, household products (cleaning and disinfecting), paints (varnishes), fuels and pesticides (to name a few) are V.O.C’s (Volatile Organic Compounds).  The EPA states that V.O.C’s are: “suspected of causing, or are known to cause cancer in humans.”

If you are looking for and indoor paint that is truly safe for pregnancy we have to look beyond the“LOW/NO VOC” label and make sure other toxins and carcinogens are not present causing indoor air pollution.  Despite being labeled “NO VOC” there is no regulation on these toxins and your paint may include:

*   Acetone
*  Ammonia
*  Crystalline Silica
*  Exempt Solvents
*  Formaldehyde Precursors
*  Odor Masking Agents
 
These toxins are not “VOC’s”, but toxic none the less.
